Furniture

My parents have been looking for a new recliner for their living room. While visiting them recently, we went to look for the perfect chair. I couldn't believe what I saw in an upscale furniture gallery in my hometown. My mom was quick to tell my dad not to get any ideas. She would not allow that furniture in her house. Would you put this in your house?

Not much planned for this weekend. I am going to catch up on some work, print bridal shower invitations and try to organize my closets. I am moving to a new townhouse soon, and I need to start cleaning out and packing only those things I need to move. I can't believe how much "stuff" I accumulated over the past year.

Please continue to pray for Harper, Kelly and Scott!  They updated with a PRAISE today.  God is good!

Hodge Podge

I mentioned in my Not Me! Monday post that I did not take a picture of some poor soul in our town who was working on his car in 17 degree weather, and was exposing 3/4 of his backside. And I did not zoom in to make sure friends and family could distinctly see why I laughed so hard I cried off my mascara. Stephanie commented that I could not tell that and not share the picture.  She wanted to laugh off her mascara too!  So, here is the picture I mentioned..

Elaine over at Matters of the Heart is having a "Pay It Forward" contest.  Go visit her blog, and leave a comment letting her know you want to play along.  Before you enter, you are asked to commit to "pay it forward" if you win.  The contest rules are on her blog.

This is another busy week of basketball.  We are in the midst of our county tournament.  Our girls played yesterday and got beat, and our boys play tonight.

Continue to pray for Harper, Kelly and Scott!

Not Me! Monday

It's Monday and I am going to participate in MckMama's Not Me! Monday.  Here it goes..

I did not on Thursday night make a cake and forget to put the eggs in when mixing the ingredients.  And I did not then pour it in a pan and cook it.  Thank goodness for another box in the cabinet.

I did not walk out of house the other day in my pajamas and leave the keys laying on the kitchen counter in 10 degree weather.  (Thank goodness for fake rocks with spare keys!)

I did not take a picture of some poor soul in our town who was working on his car in 17 degree weather, and was exposing 3/4 of his backside.  And I did not zoom in to make sure friends and family could distinctly see why I laughed so hard I cried off my mascara.

I did not go home to my parents for the weekend and not let other family members know I was home.

I did not run a bath the other night and then decide not to take it!  Nope! Not me!  I was not wasteful with our water.

Now it is your turn!  What did you not do on this Not Me! Monday..

Prayer Request

I realize I have not posted this week, and I promise an update is soon to come.

Tonight though, I need to ask that you lift up my blog-friend Kelly. She has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her daughter Harper. She arrived tonight, but is having some trouble breathing. They have airlifted her to Arkansas Children's Hospital.  Please pray for this family!

Lord Jesus, we are asking for your blessings upon the Stamps family.. We intercede on their behalf.

Connor's 3rd Birthday Party

Happy 3rd Birthday to my nephew Connor!  Yesterday, we had his birthday party at my sister's house.  He invited his friends from Moms-Day-Out and of course my family was in town for the party as well.  He is currently in love with "Little Einsteins" so we decided it would be fun to let the kids decorate cookies shaped like rockets!  It was so much fun, and 3-year olds are so creative.  I think the funniest part was watching the adults trying to hurry the kids up so they could decorate a cookie as well!

Aww-whee!.. One of his friends giving him a hug for his birthday

Connor got this tractor and wagon from Santa.  Emma Grace loved riding in it!  She laughed the whole time and Connor kept checking to make sure she was okay.

And last, but not least.. a picture of Preston's pink Converse!  Precious!!

Happy 3rd Birthday "Rudy"!!  You are one of the greatest blessings in my life.

Love you always and forever,

Broyhill, Basketball and Bama

Today I went to "Dogtown" to a furniture outlet.  They call it that because when the buildings for the general merchandise store were being built, the workers noticed lots of stray dogs coming by each day.  They started calling it "Dogtown" and it stuck.  The actual name of the store is now Akins Furniture.  You can visit their site here.  We went to look for my dad a new recliner for their den.  They carry Broyhill furniture and I loved looking in their gallery at the pretty bedroom suits.

Tonight our Varsity Girls' Basketball team played an area game.  We went into tonight's game undefeated!  It was a great game, but our opponents wanted this game more than we did and we ended up losing 40-49.  I am still very proud of these young ladies.  Sometimes you need to feel the emotions of losing to make you play harder and want to win!

And lastly, the Alabama Crimson Tide played the Utes in the Sugar Bowl tonight.  As a little little girl I learned very fast that my blood would bleed crimson.  Although I am disappointed that we did not pull through with a win tonight, I am still proud to be a Bama fan!  Roll Tide Roll!

First Post of 2009

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year!

I am not much of a resolution maker, but I have thought of a couple that I would like to keep for 2009!  I am going to strive to have a quiet time each morning before starting my day.  I have started waiting until mid-morning, and it just doesn't work for me.  I have always struggled with having a quiet time because I don't slow down.  I hope to slow down and listen more to God and the words he is speaking to me.

I also plan to volunteer more in my community.  There are many reasons that I have not volunteered more since moving back three years ago, but I am no longer going to dwell on those things and do in my heart what I love to do - serve.

Today will be a quiet day for me.  I plan to finish packing up my Christmas decorations and put my little house back together.  I also plan to clean out my closet!  I have lots of clothes that I don't wear anymore to donate and I need to re-organize the closet anyway.

My parents are coming to visit with my sister (and her family) and I this weekend.  They should be here sometime later this afternoon.  Mom is bringing ham, black-eyed peas and turnip greens for dinner.  These foods are suppose to bring you good luck and prosperity in the New Year!  Regardless they are yummy and I love sharing dinner with my family.

May God richly bless you and your families in 2009!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will direct your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6
