Eat Mor Chikin!

During the closing session of our conference today, I was escorted to my table from the brunch line by a short, bald man whom I thought worked for the Hyatt in Atlanta. He carried my plate to the table, pulled my chair out for me and laid my napkin across my lap before saying "It was my pleasure to serve you today. Please enjoy your meal."  To my embarrassment, the nice man was none other than Dan Cathy, the President and Chief Operating Officer of Chick-Fil-A.

He was our keynote speaker during our closing session of our conference today. He opened his session with this... Proverbs 3:5-6. Wow! What a testimony to begin a talk to hundreds of people with a bible verse. I long to be this bold in my faith.

Have a great week!

Hotlanta, Diner and King Tut!

I am currently in Atlanta attending the CASE III Conference at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. What a great hotel! The room I am in is in the Radius Tower. The tower is in the shape of a circle, and our rooms our in small pods around the circle. I took a couple of pictures of the bed, chair (excuse my mess!), and bathroom for you to see. This is a tiny room, but so cozy!

Last night we went to Buckhead to grab dinner and ended up at the OK Cafe. What a neat spot. It was fabulous! It has been featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" that Guy Fieri hosts. Really neat place and if you are ever in the Buckhead area and want diner type food, I highly recommend it. They do serve fresh vegetables and they are cooked like true southern vegetables should be. It is opened 24-hours a day!

Tonight, we attended the King Tut exhibit. I could not use my camera in the exhibit (for obvious reasons), so here are a few from the reception area after we toured. I would recommend a visit if you are in the Atlanta area.

And last, but not least, the sponsor of our event tonight sent their famous mascot to our party. He was all decked out in his King Tut apparel, and rocked the dance floor with us.

Have a great week!

Basketball, Boxes and Butterfinger Cake

What a whirlwind these past two weeks have been! I am in the process of moving out of my current place and into a place a little closer to church and work. I found a place and thought I was ready to go, but after some uneasiness in my heart and prayer, God placed his hand in the situation and opened another door. I will post pictures of my new little townhouse once I get moved in a couple of weeks. It is located within steps of a lake here in town, and I have always dreamed of living on the water (well, the beach but this will have to do for now since I am in North AL). In the meantime, I am up to my knees in boxes. Where does all this stuff come from?

We are also in the area basketball tournament this week! Our girls and boys teams are playing every night this week but Wednesday. Whoo.. lots of fun but very tiring and time consuming! Here is a shot I took the other night before the game started.

We also have our Parents' Association Auction this weekend. This is our largest fundraiser and allows our PA to provide our school with needs throughout the school year. We have put together themed gift baskets, and they are fabulous! If I get the chance, I will take some pictures and post them. Feel free to take some of the ideas for your own personal use!

Mmm.. I made a Butterfinger Cake the other night for our faculty January birthdays! It was a hit. I will post the recipe later.

Have a great week!
